Ange Guépin’s later writings and their connection with fourierism
2017 / n° 28 |
In the early 1850s, the Nantes doctor and politician Ange Guépin (1805-1873) wrote a book entitled Philosophie du socialisme (The Philosophy of Socialism) later followed by two other works that synthesized his socialist ideas. In these he gave a long description of the world and its evolution resorting to many analogies and formulated proposals to change its social organization. In these writings he also demonstrated a sound knowledge of the theories of Fourier and his disciples, and the socialism and associationism he advocated was largely derived from their ideas.
