Call for Papers

The Center of Utopian Studies-U-TOPOS of the Instituto de Estudos da Linguagem Unicamp/ Brazil invites researchers on Humanities to present paper proposals to its International Congress Labor and Utopia in Nineteenth Century : agents and experiences to be held from the 22nd to 24th October 2013 at Campinas (SP), Brazil.

This International Congress focuses on utopian expectations understood from the world of labor, of its agents and its actions. We encourage approaches of comparative or connected histories between East and West, regional/national/global scales, as well as studies on free and unfree labor. Based on these central issues the Center of Utopian Studies-U-TOPOS invites the participations of researchers interested in dealing with the following subjects grouped in two main axes :

Agents and their histories - perspectives of class, gender and ethnicity, free and unfree labor, biographies, life-histories of workers, activists, intellectuals.

Diversity of experiences - subjects such as Self-help and other forms of associations, societarian colonies, educational projects, propaganda and social press, religion and science, social literature, theater, culture.

Deadlines :

Proposal submission with abstracts (up to 300 words) : 30th April 2013

Notification of proposal acceptance : 30th May 2013

Complete text delivery : 30th August 2013

Text format : no more than 12 pages long, in Times New Roman, type 12, 1,5 spacing between lines, containing title, author’s name followed by an asterisk indicating footnote with institutional affiliation. The text must have 3 key-words inserted after the title and author. Quotations of more than three lines must be indented and in type 10. Bibliographical references and explanatory notes should be in end-notes type 10.
